This passage is a glimpse into the good news of the Gospel and the power of grace. The law gives us a baseline for how we all stand before God. Our baseline is that no matter who we are, what we do, what we accomplish, how much we help others nothing compares to our unmatched God. We do not stand a chance to stand before Him and be counted for anything other than unworthy. It levels the playing field for any person, no matter who you are. BUT that is when the beauty of this passage comes in. Thanks be to Jesus that we do not have to be justified by who we are, what we can or can’t do, or how many times we might mess up. Jesus meets us in those things and takes our place.
